Why Choose Seattle KVM VPS Hosting?

The right choice for applications that need full control

Your Own Kernel

Run any kernel version, load kernel modules, compile custom builds. No restrictions on what you can do at the system level.

Hardware-Level Security

KVM provides true hardware isolation between VMs. Your processes, memory, and filesystem are completely separate from other customers.

Any Operating System

Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and more. If it runs on x86-64, it runs on our KVM platform.

Consistent Performance

Dedicated CPU cores and guaranteed RAM allocation. No performance degradation from neighboring VMs.

ISO Boot & Boot Order Control

Mount any ISO directly from the client portal and boot from it instantly. Reinstall your OS, run a live recovery environment, or install something entirely custom. Boot order is fully configurable per VM.

Private Virtual Networking

Create isolated virtual LANs between your VMs. Connect your servers via private 10.x.x.x addresses for backend traffic, databases, or inter-VM communication with no public internet exposure.

One-Click App Installer

Deploy WordPress, Docker, WireGuard, Gitea, Minecraft, and 20+ more applications straight from the client portal with a single click. No SSH session, no configuration files — pick an app and it's running in minutes. Browse all apps.

KVM vs LXC — Which Should You Choose?

Choose KVM If You Need:

  • Custom or older kernel versions
  • Non-Linux operating systems
  • Kernel-level features (eBPF, custom modules)
  • Complete hardware isolation
  • Windows or BSD workloads

Choose LXC Instead For:

  • Linux-only workloads
  • Lower cost per resource
  • Faster container startup
  • Higher density deployments
  • Web apps and microservices

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your KVM VPS servers located?

All SeattleNAP KVM VPS servers are located in the Westin Building Exchange at 2001 6th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121, the Pacific Northwest's primary internet exchange hub with direct SIX peering to 250+ networks.

What operating systems can I run on a Seattle KVM VPS?

Our Seattle KVM VPS supports Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, Rocky, AlmaLinux, CentOS, Fedora, Arch, Alpine), BSD (FreeBSD, OpenBSD), and more. You can also mount any ISO directly from the client portal and boot from it, so you can install any OS you want without contacting us.

How fast is the network on your Seattle KVM VPS?

Every KVM VPS includes a 1Gbps port with direct Seattle Internet Exchange (SIX) peering. Sub-millisecond latency to major carriers, ~18ms to San Francisco, ~68ms to Tokyo.

Can I boot from a custom ISO?

Yes. From the client portal you can mount any ISO to your VM and set the boot order to boot from it. This lets you reinstall your OS, run a recovery environment, or install an OS we don't stock as a template. Anything that boots from an ISO works.

Can my VMs talk to each other privately?

Yes. You can create a private virtual network from the portal and attach your VMs to it. Your servers will communicate over a 10.x.x.x LAN without touching the public internet. Ideal for database backends, microservices, or any traffic you want to keep internal.

Can I upgrade my Seattle KVM VPS later?

Yes. Add CPU cores ($5/mo), RAM ($3/mo per GB), storage ($2/mo per 10GB), or bandwidth ($3/mo per TB) anytime from your client portal. No downtime required.
